SUMMARY:Opportunities for Adaptive Reuse of Vacant Office Buildings in PDX
DESCRIPTION:CLF Portland Hub and Prosper Portland team up to bring you a panel discussion around the next life of vacant office buildings in PDX \nWe’re back for another year of Sustainable Building Week! This year\, the Carbon Leadership Forum Portland hub and Prosper Portland are collaborating to host this panel discussion on the state of the market for adaptive reuse of vacant office space in Portland. Have you heard Portland has one of the highest delinquency rates for central city office space of large cities across the country? Did you know reuse of existing buildings can result in a 40% to 75% reduction in embodied greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions compared to new construction? Join this session to learn about the analysis and funding opportunities for reuse of existing buildings to save carbon emissions\, increase housing units\, and even bring innovative businesses into the city. Perspectives include economic development\, urban design and preservation\, energy efficiency upgrades for commercial construction\, and the nuts and bolts of developing\, designing\, and building housing units in existing buildings. \nA few details: \nThis is an in-person event. Light refreshments will be provided. \nProsper Portland is located just off the Max Red and Blue Line\, neat several bus stops\, Bike Greenways\, and paid street parking is available in the area. Please come to the lobby where we will direct you to the space. \nPlease note the building entrance is not barrier free\, there are stairs. There is an alternative entrance that can be made accessible as need\, please let us know in advance of the event. \nThe building does not have public secure bike parking – if you have an e-bike or bike you’re not comfortable locking on public racks\, indoor parking accomodations can be made. \nReserve a Spot
